How Is the Gold Rate in Delhi Calculated?
The Delhi gold rate follows the international spot price of gold (quoted in US dollars per troy ounce), converted to rupees at the live USD/INR exchange rate. One troy ounce equals 31.1035 grams. India’s import duty on gold (currently 15%: 10% basic customs duty plus 5% AIDC) is then added. Jewellery purchases also attract 3% GST, plus making charges that vary by jeweller.
